The Mental Health Association, founded in 1954, serves the Capital Area United Way ten parish area including East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Ascension, Iberville, Livingston, St. James, East Feliciana, West Feliciana, Pointe Coupee, and St. Helena.

The Mission of the Association is to provide services for persons with or at risk for mental health and substance abuse issues.

Independent Living Programs (ILP)

We also:

Provide various outreach activities

Provide mental health information and referrals

Support legislation for the rights of persons with mental illness

Provide support services to  (National Alliance of Mentally Ill) NAMI

Serve as a speakers bureau

Act as Hospital Friends to East Louisiana State Hospital
